Jeffrey Smith, 57, of Mill Spring, passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2018, at his home.Born in Asheville, NC, he was the son of Jackson Smith of Asheville, NC, and the late Carolyn Sensing Smith, who passed away in 2008. Jeff moved to Mill Spring in 1971, coming from Mills River. He was a graduate of Polk Central High School, class of 1980. He played football during high school. For many years he worked for Renfrow Brothers Construction in Spartanburg, SC as a pipefitter. When not working, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking, and all outside sports, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews. Jeff was a member of Lynn First Baptist Church.In addition to his mother, Jeff was preceded in death by a brother, Kevin Smith, who passed away in 2016.Surviving, in addition to his father, includes one brother, Randy Kight (Charlene) of Hilliard, FL; two sisters, Pamela Staples (Hugh) of Ridgeway, SC, and Beth Lucas (Ethan) of Goode, VA. Also surviving are nieces and nephews: Jill, Hannah, Caleb (Kaila), Brock, Cassidy, Kendall, and Bristol; and great-nieces and nephews: Brandt, Journey, Carissa, Londynn, Isla, and Ivy. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at McFarland Funeral Chapel in Tryon, NC.A funeral will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at McFarland Funeral Chapel in Tryon, NC, with Rev.
