Obituary

Jay Clark IV, founder and active CEO of Pure Country Weavers died August 30th after a brief illness. He was 76. Jay was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was the eldest child of Jay Clark III of Boston, Massachusetts and Ida Hays McCormick Clark of Williamsport, Pennsylvania. He attended the Hill School and Lycoming College in Pennsylvania. He played in the first little league world series. Jay served in the Air Force during the Korean War and received the Distinguished Flying Cross. He later lived in Williamsport PA, Washington DC, St. Petersburg, Florida and Tryon, North Carolina. An avid sportsman, traveler, innovator, entrepreneur, and visionary he started many businesses before founding Pure Country Weavers in 1988. He cared deeply for his coworkers and was a devoted friend. He will always be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and positive outlook on life.He is survived by his three children Jay Clark V, Ida Hays McCormick Clark, and George Convers Wetherill Clark; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was married for 48 years to the late Margaret Clark Wetherill Clark of Washington, DC. A memorial service and arrangements will be held at McFarland Funeral Chapel in Tryon, North Carolina on Wednesday, September 6th at 3 PM with a reception to follow. Internment private. The family invites those who wish to honor Jay's memory to make contributions to the Foothills Humane Society P.O. Box 126 Tryon, NC 28782.
