TRYON, NC - James Tupper Hill, 89, of Tryon, NC passed away, Sunday morning, September 29, 2013 at the Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills, Landrum, SC.Born in Greer, SC, he was the son of the late Washington Luther and Rosa Henery Hill and widower of Margaret Cansler Hill who died in 2008. He was a veteran of WWII having served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Hill moved to Tryon in 1998 coming from Greer, SC. He was a member of Columbus Baptist Church, Columbus, NC.Surviving is one daughter, Lynn Tinney (Bill) of Tryon, NC; one sister, Dot Vehorn of Greer, SC; two granddaughters, Dwana Engle (Jon) of Pensacola, FL and Laura Tinney of Tryon, NC. Also surviving is one great-granddaughter, Misha Tinney.A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 5, 2013 in the Columbus Baptist Church, Columbus, NC with Rev. Robert Capps officiating.Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, 130 Forest Glen Drive, Columbus, NC 28722.At other times, the family will be at the home.
