Columbus, NC- James David Craig, 76, of Columbus, NC, died Tuesday, April 19, 2016 in his home.Born in Buncombe County, NC, he was the son of the late James Clayman and Martha Dotson Craig. David enjoyed sitting on his porch, and watching the birds. He loved to fish, and enjoyed being outdoors. David also enjoyed doing yardwork. He was of the Baptist faith.Surviving are his wife, Carolyn Craig; two sisters, Ruby Aikens of Hendersonville, and Nancy Covil of Florida; two brothers, Paul Craig of Hendersonville, and Michael Craig of Columbus; a sister in law, Jean Herbert (Buddy); a niece, Tonya Horton (Phillip); a nephew, Tony Priester (Kathy); a special great nephew, Hunter; his special dog, Gladys. Also surviving are several great nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 23, 2016 in McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, NC, with Rev. Tony Priester and Dr. Jesse Yarbrough officiating. Memorials may be made to Foothills Humane Society, 989 Little Mountain Rd, Columbus, NC 28722.
