Obituary

James Allen Carney, 66, of Mill Spring, NC, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at home.James (Jim) was born in Fairmont, WV on July 5, 1956. He was the son of the late Robert Lee and Doris Louise (Snyder) Carney.  He was also preceded in death by a brother, Michael Lee Carney in 2022.  He moved from West Virginia to Elyria, Ohio as a child.  After graduating from Midview Highschool he relocated to Atlanta, where he met the love of his life, Louann, on a blind date and they have been together ever since.  They were married in 1981 for 42 years.Jim had many hobbies and interests, all of which he excelled at.  He was always a talented model builder and soon became involved in building and flying RC helicopters and planes.  He was an avid woodworker and craftsman.  He could build or fix anything, and quite uniquely at times.  He worked on most of the interior/and exterior of his retirement home on Lake Adger, a 2 story log home.  He also loved to fish.  He was employed with TJX Companies (Marshalls), for 36 years, retiring in May 2020 as a District Manager in the Charlotte, NC region. He and Louann had 3 children that they are so proud of.  Kaitlin is a Registered Nurse, Nickolas is a grocery store assistant manager, and Matthew is Corporal in the United States Marine Corps.  Also close to his heart were his beloved Maine Coon cats and Dog, all rescues.Surviving Jim are his spouse, Louann Marie (Urick) Carney, one daughter, Kaitlin Marie Carney, Concord, NC; two sons, Nickolas James Carney, Dallas, NC, and Matthew Allen Carney, Active Duty USMC, San Diego, CA and two grandchildren, Tate Allen, and Vanna Marie.Service will be private.
