Columbus, NC- James Lockett Armstrong, Jr., 69, of Columbus, NC and Estero, FL, died Friday, July 11, 2008 in Rosecrest, Inman, SC, after a lengthy illness. Born in Paducah, KY, he was the son of the late James Armstrong, Sr. Mr. Armstrong was a graduate of East Tennessee State University and was a Shriner. Surviving is his loving wife of 48 years, Peggie Beere Armstrong; three daughters, Beth Knapp-Tyner of Green Creek, NC, Alison LaPorta of Bradenton, FL and Luanne Sutton of Ft. Myers, FL; two brothers, William Armstrong of Bonita Springs, FL and Ben Armstrong of Johnson City, TN. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Ashley and Courtney Knapp, Trey and Evan LaPorta, Shea, Spencer, Sara and Silas Sutton.
