James Michael Amburn, 51, of Tryon, North Carolina, passed away, Saturday evening, March 28, 2026, at Advent Health/Polk in Columbus, North Carolina, following an extended illness.

Born in South Williamson, Kentucky, he was the son of Roxie Zornes Amburn of Tryon, North Carolina and the late Billy Joe Amburn. James was a graduate of Belfry High School in Belfry, Kentucky and went on to work in several industries and finished his career at International Paper in Wellford, South Carolina.

James enjoyed video games, motorcycles, four-wheelers and was an avid reader.

Surviving in addition to his mother are one son, Larry Reed (Kari) of Belfry, Kentucky; one daughter, Makayla Amburn of Wellford, South Carolina; two sisters, Jessica Ray of Florence, South Carolina and Ashley Septon (Jonathan) of Tryon, North Carolina; his former wife, Wendy Amburn of Wellford, South Carolina.

A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
