Obituary

COLUMBUS -- Jack Lee Jolley, 99, of Columbus, NC went home to the Lord, Wednesday morning, February 28, 2024, at Richard Campbell's Veterans Nursing Home, Anderson, SC.



Born in Rutherford County, NC, he was the son of the late Robert E. Lee and Reva Justice Jolley. He served in the United States Army, 78th Division, during WWII and was a heavy machine gunner. Jack received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star Metals. Jack retired from the North Carolina Department of Transportation. Jack loved classic vehicles, especially his Edsels; he spent many years in the Edsel Club. He was a founding member of the Faith Baptist Church and served his Lord in many ways. Jack enjoyed telling stories and was loved by friends and family dearly.



In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Wilma Jolley and married for 71 years; four brothers: Glen, Paul, Willard, Max Jolley and one sister: Lois Atwood.



Surviving one son, Dayle Jolley (Juanita) of Anderson, SC; two grandchildren, Rusty Rigdon (Dawn) and Danita Swaney (Steven), four great-grandchildren: Dawson Swaney, Morgan Swaney, Dustin Rigdon (Marlana Davis), Justin Tribble; three great-great-grandchildren, Aubree Willis, Logan and Lucas Tribble; his honorary boys, Fredrick and Gordon Vesser; special family members: Shafford Rigdon (Jennifer), Ryker, Bella and Tinsley Rigdon. Surviving siblings: one brother, Donnie Jolley (Phyllis) of Columbus, NC, two sisters, Jean Pack of Mill Spring, NC; Hilda Galloway of Greenville, SC.



The family will receive friends Saturday, March 2, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. in the McFarland Funeral Chapel in Tryon.



Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral chapel with Reverend Hubert Street officiating.



Burial will follow at Faith Baptist Church Cemetery in Mill Spring with Military Honors conducted by the Polk County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard.
