COLUMBUS, NC - J.C. Shook, 85, of 195 Hillcrest Drive, Columbus, NC died Friday, December 7, 2007 at his home. Born in Jackson County, NC, he worked for 23 years at Hatch Mill in Columbus, NC and retired from Bigelow-Sanford in Landrum, SC. Mr. Shook was a member of Faith Baptist Church, Mill Spring, NC. Surviving is his wife, Ila Davis Shook; one step-son, Woody Williams of Green Creek, NC; four step-daughters, Annette Edwards (Kevin), Ginger Helton (Bob) and Lucille Fowler all of Mill Spring, NC and Deborah Robbins of Altavista, VA. Also surviving are 12 step-grandchildren and 10 step-great-grandchildren.. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, December 9, 2007 in Faith Baptist Church, Mill Spring, NC with Rev. Tim Gouge officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, NC. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, 130 Forest Glen Dr., Columbus, NC 28722. At other times, the family will be at the home, 195 Hillcrest Drive, Columbus, NC.
