IVAN JAMES KUSTERCOLUMBUS, NC -- Ivan James Kuster, 94, of 1064 Mill Street, Columbus, NC, died Wednesday, October 18, 2006 in Autumn Care Nursing Center in Saluda, NC. Born in Buffalo, NY, he was the son of the late James F. and Katherine Eisenhardt Kuster. He was a veteran, having served in the US Army. Mr. Kuster moved to Polk County in 1977, coming from Holland, NY. An organist, Mr. Kuster served in several congregations over the years. He was a member of the Congregational Church of Christ in Tryon, NC. Mr. Kuster was an amateur field botanist who led numerous hikes over the years.Surviving is his wife, Harriet Herbandson Kuster. One brother, F. Kenneth Kuster of Hamburg, NY. One sister-in-law, Mary Kuster of Spartanburg, SC. Also 15 nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 23, 2006 in the Congregational Church of Christ Memorial Garden in Tryon, NC with Rev. Dr. Robert Barrows officiating.
