Columbus, NC - Hugh Bridges Tessener, 91, of Fox Mountain Road, died Saturday, May 28, 2011, at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills in Landrum, SC. Born in Cleveland County, NC, he was the son of the late Forest Mills and Ola Bridges Tessener. He served for 42 months in the South Pacific during World War II in the U.S. Army. He was a member of VFW Post # 10349 in Mill Spring, NC. Mr. Tessener worked in the textile industry and was of the Baptist faith. Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Carolyn Clarke Tessener of the home; one nephew, Steven Clarke Porter (Tena) of Columbus, NC; two great nieces, Harley Clarke Porter and Alexis Victoria Porter. Graveside service will be held 11:00 am Monday, May 30, 2011 in Ridings Cemetery with Rev. Robert Capps officiating. Family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm Sunday, May 29, 2011 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, NC. Memorials may be made to the Columbus Baptist Church, P. O.
