Tryon, NC - Dr. Huibert Sybrandus Jongenburger, age 76, 601 Ridge Top Road, Tryon, NC 28782 died Friday, June 6, 2008 in Spartanburg, SC from a stroke.He was born in Soerabaja, Indonesia and was the son of the late Huibert Uli and Elizabeth Bouwina van der Muelen Jongenburger. Following a 30-year career as a chemical engineer in Houston, TX he chose to retire in Tryon for its beauty and history of horse culture. He enjoyed membership in The Green Creek Hounds as well as The Tryon Hunt Club and was an active participant in the Foothills Duplicate Bridge Club. Survived by his spouse: Carol Kitson-Jongenburger; one son, Huibert Frank Jongenburger; two daughters, Wendeline Ann Jongenburger Barnes and Yolanda Francisca Patino; stepchildren Trish Turesk and Tom Hill; and five grandchildren: Corey Brackin Haggerty and Anthony Michael, Julia Leigh, Sarah Elizabeth, and Christina Collette Patino; two step grandchildren, Dustin & Alex Hill.Memorial service will be held at 3:00pm on Wednesday, June 11, 2008 in McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, NC with Dr. Joseph Emery officiating.
