Tryon, N.C. - Howard Samuel "Brad" Bradley, 90, of Warrior Hills Lane, Tryon, NC died Wednesday, December 12, 2007 in St. Luke's Hospital, Columbus, NC. Born in Oscola Co, Iowa, he was the son of the late Oda Emory and Ida Ferber Bradley. Mr. Howard married Evelyn Richardson Stone on July 30, 1953. In the 1970's, while living full time in Lake Lure, NC, Howard worked for St. Luke's Hospital in Tryon and was involved in helping the hospital move from the building on Carolina Drive to the new building in Columbus, NC. After the move was accomplished, Howard "Brad" landscaped the grounds with trees from his nursery in Lake Lure and with the many trees, shrubs and plants donated by interested friends of the hospital, most of which are still there - much larger now, of course. He was awarded a silver cup as "Employee of the Year - 1972" which is a treasured possession.From 1976 to 1986 Howard was a landscaper and grounds keeper of the mansion "High Tide" owned by Mr. V. Z. Reed on Ocean Drive, Newport, RI. The Bradley's spent from March to October in Newport and the remainder of the year at Lake Lure or Miami, FL with family. After retiring Brad became a skilled wood turner. His bowls and vessels are in many homes all over the US and some overseas. Howard and Evelyn have been members of the First Baptist Church, Tryon, NC since 1996 when they moved from Lake Lure and purchased a home on Warrior Hills Lane, Tryon, NC.Survivors besides his wife are; two sons, Donald G. Bradley and wife Helen of Tryon, NC and Nestor C. Bradley of San Francisco, CA; two daughters, Maye Culley of Miami, OK and Janice Peterson and husband Julius of Haynes City, FL; three grandchildren, Crystal Louch, Keith Bradley, and Kevin Bradley; two great-grandsons, David Culley and Travis Finley.Memorial services will be held Monday, December 17, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. in the McFarland Funeral Chapel with Dr. Darryl E.
