Obituary
COLUMBUS –
Helen Fortenberry Tucker, 70, of Columbus, passed away, Tuesday morning, April 30, 2024, at Upstate Community Hospice House.
Born in Laurens, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Earl Fortenberry and Ruby Laughter Fortenberry. Helen worked in several different careers and lastly was a caregiver. She enjoyed doing word search. Helen was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, E.G. Fortenberry; two sisters, Shirley Garland, and Louise Fortenberry.
Surviving is one son, Ronnie Russell (Amy) of Sunny View; two grandchildren, Tonya Montgomery (Josh), and Kimberly Johnson (Sam); one great-grandchild, Riley Paige Montgomery; one brother, Leland Fortenberry (Paula) of Landrum; two sisters, Patricia Lawson of Landrum and Carolyn Byers of Mill Spring; one sister-in-law, Joyce Fortenberry of Sunny View. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Friday, May 3, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at the McFarland Funeral Chapel.
A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Friday at the chapel with Reverend Donald Hollifield officiating.
Burial will follow at Moore Church of Christ in Moore, South Carolina.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Hospital.
