Helen Nancy Weber Johansen, age 94, formerly of Saluda, North Carolina, and residing at 219 Meadowbrook Road in Staunton, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at her son’s home in Staunton, Virginia, of natural causes.

Helen was born in Queens, New York, and was the daughter of the late Jacob and Anna Weber. She was a devoted and loving mother who found joy in baking, sewing, gardening, and, most of all, spending time with her family. Helen especially loved her years in Saluda, North Carolina, where she embraced farm life, learned to raise animals, and enjoyed the beauty of the outdoors. She was endlessly curious, eager to learn new things, and was an avid reader throughout her life.

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gordon Velmont Johansen; her eldest son, Gordon Johansen; and her sister, Adele Weber.

She is survived by three sons: Scott Johansen and his wife, Kathy, of Staunton, Virginia; Eric Johansen and his wife, Mary, of Simi Valley, California; and James Johansen and his wife, Linda. She is also survived by her daughter, Janine Entwistle, of Pawleys Island, South Carolina. Helen leaves behind ten grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren, all of whom were a source of great pride and joy to her.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Fork Creek Baptist Church in Saluda, North Carolina, with Rev. Jason Metcalf officiating.

Burial will follow in the Fork Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church thirty minutes prior to the graveside service.
