Columbus, NC- Helen Hastings Barton, 98, of Laurel Lake Drive, Columbus, died Sunday, December 16, 2007 in St. Luke's Hospital, Columbus, NC. Born in Claremont, NH, she was the daughter of the late Emri and Edith Waters Hastings. She was the widow of Harold Barton who passed away in 2002. Mrs. Barton was a retired nurse and a member of the Eastern Star. She was of the Methodist faith. Surviving are: two nieces; Terri Hastings of Newton, NC and Patricia Murningham of Conover, NC; two nephews, Amos Hastings, Jr. and his wife Kay of Lubbock, TX and Thomas Hastings and his wife Mona of Claremont, NH. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
