– Ruth Middleton Rhodes, 90, of Saluda, NC passed away Thursday morning, January 12, 2017 at The Laurels of Hendersonville, NC.A native of Saluda, she was the daughter of the late Wade Hampton Middleton and Maggie Mae Pace Middleton and widow of John E. Rhodes who passed away in 2012. Mrs. Rhodes worked for Diamond Brand as a tent inspector. She was a member of Saluda First Baptist Church.In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Press Middleton and Furman Middleton; a sister, Louise M. Thompson; a son-in-law, Steve Heaton.Surviving are two daughters, Patricia R. Ross (Bob) of Saluda and Gail R. Bailey-Heaton of Taylors, SC; three grandchildren, Andy Ross, Kristie Bryson and Bart Bailey and six great grandchildren, Austin Harrison, Madison and Hunter Bailey, Chase and John Bryson and Jordan Ross-Ladley.A private graveside service will be held at a later date.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Saluda Fire and Rescue, 199 Walnut Street, Saluda, NC 28773 or to Four Seasons Compassion for Life, 571 South Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731.
