TRYON, NC -- Hazel Durham Forrester, 83, of 598 N. Trade Street, Tryon, NC died Sunday, March 8, 2009 in St. Luke's Hospital in Columbus, NC.Born in Polk County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Rufus Jackson and Bessie Parker Durham. She was retired from Southern Mercerizing after 44 years of service. Mrs. Forrester attended the Pentecostal Holiness Church in Tryon, NC, and was the widow of Paul Forrester who died in 1994.Surviving are a niece Carole McEntire (Gerald) of Columbus, NC; a nephew, Hobie Durham of Tryon, NC; an aunt, Mary Lee Hayes of Landrum, SC. Also surviving are two great nephews, Josh McEntire and Ben McEntire (Amber), one great niece Melissa Baron (Kyle), great-great niece and nephew, Verae Upton and Durham McEntire.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 11, 2009 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel in Tryon, NC with Rev. Arthur Campbell officiating.Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens in Columbus, NC.The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service on Wednesday in the McFarland Funeral Chapel.
