LAKE LURE, NC - Harold Clegg Thomas, 83, of Lake Lure, NC died Tuesday morning, February 6, 2007 in Mission-St. Joseph's Hospital, Asheville, NC. Born in New Martinsville, WV, he was the son of the late Walter and Ailene Thomas. Mr. Thomas was a veteran of WWII having served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Tryon, NC, volunteered at St. Luke's Hospital in the print shop and with Shepherd's Care and was a member of the Lake Lure VFW Post #10473. Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by daughter, Shelley Thomas Moody. Surviving is his wife, Anita Trick Thomas; two sons, Daniel Thomas and wife, Susan of Mathews, VA and David Thomas and wife, Mary Pat of Dayton, OH; one daughter, Sandra Gordon and husband, Stuart of Raleigh, NC; one son-in-law, Greg Moody of Dayton, OH. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. A funeral mass will be held at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, February 10, 2007 in the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Tryon, NC with Father Patrick Winslow officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shepherd's Care, P.O. Box 634, Lake Lure, NC 28746.
