MILL SPRING, NC - Gwendolyn Revonda Gilbert, 60, of Mill Spring, NC went home to be with the Lord Monday, February 9, 2015 at her home.Born in Polk County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Ellick and Bertie Haynes Gilbert. Gwen was a graduate of the University of North Carolina and received her Master's Degree from Western Carolina University. She taught Spanish in Bryson City Schools for 25 years. She was an avid animal lover and loved to read. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Aileen McDaniel.Surviving are one brother, Billy Gilbert (Brenda) of Sunny View, NC and one sister, Allaja Newman of Columbus, NC. Also surviving is one niece, Pam Luthringer of Columbus, NC.A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 13, 2015 in Coopers Gap Baptist Church Cemetery, Mill Spring, NC with Rev. Tim Gouge and Rev.
