Columbus, N.C. - Grace Hagler Simon of Tryon Estates, Columbus, NC died Friday, July 20, 2007 in St. Luke's Hospital, Columbus, NC. Born in Wingate, NC, she was the daughter of the late Reece Michael and Martha Jane Stroud Hagler. She was the widow of Al E. Simon, Jr. who died in 2002. Mrs. Simon had been a resident of Polk County for the past 20 years, coming from Madison, CT. She was a member of the Congregational Church of Christ, Tryon, NC. Surviving are: one son, William Henry Williams Skerrett, III of Stone Harbor, NJ; Daughters Paula Skerrett Hoffman of Princeton, NJ; Mimi Skerrett Williams of High Point, NC and one sister, Marie Pearson of Columbus, NC. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren: Sean Hoffman, Erin Hoffman, Caitlin Bruner, Curry Williams and Kelsie Skerrett and 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Talmadge Hagler. The family would like to extend their gratitude for the loving care of our mother to the staff of Tryon Estates and Dr. Sandra McCormack. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, August 7, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in the Tryon Estates Auditorium with Rev. Ralph Kuether officiating.
