GREEN CREEK –
Glen Edward Smith, 74, of Green Creek, passed away unexpectedly, Saturday afternoon, November 9, 2024, at his home.
Born in Madison, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Charles Smith and Victoria Guinn Smith. Glen moved to North Carolina in 1959 and was a graduate of Polk Central High School. He went on to study at U.N.C. Charlotte and graduated from Isothermal Community College earning an associate's degree. During Glen's working career, he worked for Phillips Fibers in Spartanburg and Ivy Electric. Later he ended his career at St. Luke's Hospital as director of engineering and retiring after 40 years of service.
Following retirement, he enjoyed working on his property, and spending time with his family. He was an avid reader and loved riding his Harley Davidson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Smith.
Surviving is his wife of 52 years, Brenda Walker Smith; two sons, Jamie Smith (Amy) of Charlotte and Michael Smith (Clare) of Statesville; one brother, Fred Smith of Kodak, Tennessee. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to a drop-in to pay their condolences and celebrate Glen's life Saturday, December 7, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at his home, 1665 Moore Road, Tryon, North Carolina 28782.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of donor's choice.
