Obituary
Glen James Massengill, 60, of Mill Spring, NC passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2024.
Glen was the son of James (deceased) and Patricia Massengill.
Glen was a dedicated and loving husband to Elicia Ramsey Massengill and a phenomenal and loving father to Cooper James Massengill.
Glen was born and grew up in Charlotte, NC. After high school, he attended Western Carolina University and procured a degree in engineering. He worked for Honeywell Micro Switch for several decades as a senior design engineer.
Glen and his father began the Hitching Post Campground in 1985. Glen has made the campground his full -time passion for the last 20 years. His generous, easy-going, and caring personality endeared him to those he came in contact with at the campground, throughout the community, and throughout the world in his many travels. His selflessness was never more apparent than with his family, to which he gave everything.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at McFarland Funeral Chapel in Tryon, NC.
A graveside service will follow the visitation and will be held at Polk Memorial Gardens in Columbus, NC officiated by Reverend Farrell Ramsey.
