Gladys Irene Ruff Thompson Melton, 80, of Rutherfordton, passed away Monday morning, December 26, 2022 at Spartanburg Medical Center.Born in Polk County, she was the daughter of the late Howard James Ruff, Sr. and Rose Norman Ruff and wife of the late Mark Melton. Ms. Melton retired from Mastercraft in Rutherford County and had been a seamstress for many years.In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Anna Thompson McAbee and a son, Tony Thompson.Surviving is one son, Barry Thompson of Rutherfordton; one brother, Bill Ruff of Mill Spring. Also surviving are four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.Per Ms. Melton's wishes, no services are planned.
