Mill Spring, NC - Gladys Foy Halford, 89, of 421 Hwy. 9 South, Mill Spring, NC died, Thursday, April 23, 2009 in Autumn Care Nursing Center in Saluda, NC. She was the daughter of Harley and Nellie Dalton Foy. She was the widow of Jonas David Halford who died in 1997. Mrs. Halford was a member of Mill Spring Baptist Church. Surviving are six children, Geraldine Cantrell (Ed), Joyce Halford, Sue O'Sullivan (Jim), Mike Halford (Carolyn), Jerry Halford (Sandy), and Gary Halford (Cathy); three brothers, Earl Foy (Ruth), Jesse Foy (Shirley), Fred Foy (Julie) and one sister-in-law Charlene Foy. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Mrs. Halford was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Linda Cantrell, two brothers and 2 sisters. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, April 25, 2009 in Polk Memorial Gardens in Columbus, NC with Rev. Dean Elliott officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm Friday, April 24, 2009 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, NC. The family will be at the home on 421 Hwy. #9 South, Mill Spring, NC.
