- Gladys McDowell Evins, 44, of River Bluff Rd., Chesnee, SC died Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, Spartanburg, SC. Born in Polk County, NC, she was the daughter of Johnny B. and Louise Thomas McDowell of Chesnee, SC. She was a former employee of Alpha Beauty School, Spartanburg, SC. Ms. Evins was a member of Maybry's Temple Bibleway Church, Campobello, SC. Surviving in addition to her parents are four children, Kenny McDowell, Felicia, Lakeisha and Kera Evins all of the home; five brothers, Johnny McDowell, Jr. of Chesnee, SC, Frank McDowell of Spindale, NC, Rodney McDowell of Spartanburg, SC, Mark McDowell of Atlanta, GA and Thomas McDowell of Inman, SC; five sisters, Sharon Holmes of Chesnee, SC, Yvonne Currins of Atlanta, GA, Jennifer Brannon of Columbia, SC, Severia Broadus of Raleigh, NC and Tiffany McDowell of Chesnee, SC; one half sister, Terry Gibbs of Cincinnati, OH. Also surviving are 3 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 27, 2007 at Maybry's Temple Bibleway Church, Campobello, SC with District Elder S. Derrall Beason officiating. Burial will be in Mills Chapel Cemetery, Landrum, SC. The family will be at the home of her parents, 2237 Fairfield Rd., Chesnee, SC.
