Obituary

Georgia Huntsinger Pace entered this world on February 4th, 1934, to her parents Thomas and Mae Huntsinger and began her eternal life on January 21, 2026, forever leaving behind a trail of kindness. She is predeceased by her sister, Emily Camp, and her brother, Bosey Huntsinger. She spent 69 years married to the love of her life, Nelson “Bud” Pace, after their first meeting 3 years prior, until his passing in 2021. Wherever you saw Bud, you most likely heard Georgia first. She recalled being around the age of 8 when she first attended Tryon First Baptist Church and she continued to grace the pews on Sundays until she no longer could. You would most frequently see her in the kitchen preparing meals at the church or serving others in some capacity. She cherished nothing more than being at church with her “ladies” and adoringly referred to the congregation as her “family.” While she and Bud never had children, they chose many to whom they loved as their own. For four decades she has lovingly been adorned with the nickname Hus. At age 18 she began her career at Southern Merchandizing and worked her way up to manager by the time she retired at the age of 50. Not being one to sit still, she went back into the workforce at the Tryon Pharmacy and later in the private caretaking field as a CNA over a span of 20 years.

With a joy unknown by most she lived a simple life that was full of laughter, love, and faith. She worked hard and she loved harder. The most common phrase from her mouth was “I love you,” which was most often followed by her telling you how good looking you were. It’s possible she may have been fibbing some of us as none of us were ever as good looking as she made us feel. Georgia carried a childlike spark and she felt inclined to sprinkle her kindness along the way. For those lucky enough to get to know the real Georgia, her wit and straight shooting statements, shenanigans, and observations likely held you in a state of unbridled laughter. While her body began to slow down as she approached the age of 92, her mind was fully engaged with the world around her. She enjoyed imparting her knowledge of life to others and more often than not she could make those within earshot red-faced by doing so. She was appreciative of those that helped her in ways both big and small and she never failed to express her gratitude. The staffs of White Oak of Tryon and Hospice of the Carolina Foothills provided her with excellent care the last few years of her life. “God has been good to me. Everything worked out. It worked out good.” Those were Georgia’s words, as she knew where her ultimate gratitude was to be placed. Surrounded by her chosen family she stated frankly, “You can’t shake me!” referring to how we will never be able to escape her love and special kind of crazy. She was a master fried chicken devourer, drinking sweet tea with little ice elated her, bingo was her game of choice, and making others smile was her innate gift. Now that she is with her Lord in paradise and reunited with Bud, we can all rest easy knowing she is exactly where she has longed to be.

They say to stay close to people who feel like sunshine and she was sunshine indeed. Her presence made others feel more alive and hopeful. In closing, words directly from our beloved, “I tell you just to love people; it’s the most important thing. Love is more than anything in the world and that’s the way I feel.” Remember, she loved you more.

Please join us to celebrate her life, infectious spirit, and crazy love:
