COLUMBUS, NC - "Jerry" George Thomas McMahon, 80, of Columbus, NC died Thursday, May 31, 2007 at his home. Born in Worcester, Mass., he was the son of the late Charles and Marie McMahon. Mr. McMahon was a veteran of WWII having served in the U.S. Navy. He was a graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, NY and the University of Houston, TX. Mr. McMahon was an active member of St. John's Catholic Church and the Tryon Country Club. Surviving is his wife of 53 years, Grace K. Powers McMahon; one son, Gerald Michael McMahon of Columbus, NC; one daughter, Mary K. Stefanec of Columbus, NC. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Tryon, NC with Father Patrick Winslow officiating. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
