Garland Lee Searcy, 85, of Sunny View, went home to be with the Lord, Friday morning, July 15, 2022 at the Solace Center in Asheville.Born in Buncombe County, he was the son of the late William Randolph Searcy and Hester Ruff Searcy. Mr. Searcy was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from Ballard's Cabinets and Appliance in Asheville after 32 years of service. Mr. Searcy was an ordained evangelist and spread the Gospel to everyone he talked to. He enjoyed deer hunting, coin collecting and wood working. Mr. Searcy was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Columbus.Surviving is his wife, Lois Jackson Searcy; one son, Noah Searcy of Asheville; two daughters, Wanda Fabian (Todd Haney) of Arden and Angie Searcy of Fletcher; one granddaughter, Ashley Searcy of Hendersonville; four great-grandchildren, Matthew, Gideon, Gracie and Solomon; one brother, Milo Searcy (Ann) of Sunny View; one sister, Dallie Cox (Donald) of Hendersonville; two step-daughters, Betty Gibbs and Teresa Edwards (Laddy) both of Sunny View. Also surviving are two step-grandchildren and multiple step-great-grandchildren.The family will receive friends Monday Evening, July 18, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the McFarland Funeral Chapel.A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 19, 2022 in Emmanuel Baptist Church in Columbus with Reverend Brian Wilson officiating.Military honors will be conducted by the Polk County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard.Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Arden.
