Columbus, N.C. - Frederick Charles Schwebel, 87, of 1062 W. Mills Street, Columbus, NC, died Wednesday, November 19, 2008 in White Oak Manor Nursing Center, Tryon, NC. Born in Gibbstown, NJ, he was the son of the late Charles and Anna Price Schwebel. He was a Veteran of WWII having served in the Pacific Theatre as an Army Anti Aircraft Gunner. Mr. Schwebel was employed with the DuPont Company in Gibbstown, NJ for 36 years retiring in 1982. Mr. Schwebel moved to Polk County in December of 2007 coming from West Deptford Township, NJ. He was a member of the Salem Co., NJ, VFW and was of the Protestant faith. Surviving are: 4 daughters, Faye Thies of Sewell, NJ; Chaz Williams of Landrum, SC; Elizabeth Quattlebaum of Tryon, NC and Elaine Brooks of Pilesgrove Township, NJ; a sister, Frances Wright of St. Cloud, Fl. Also surviving are 3 granddaughters, 6 grandsons, 3 great-granddaughters and 2 great-grandsons and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Faith Waddington and two brothers, Harold and Clarence Schwebel. Private graveside services will be held at a later date in the Eglington Cemetery, Clarksboro, NJ. Memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O.
