Frank Eugene McDowell, 61, of Forest City passed away, Sunday afternoon, September 4, 2022 at Spartanburg Medical Center.Born in Tryon, he was the son of the late Johnnie B. McDowell and Louise Thomas McDowell. Frank attended Landrum High School playing basketball and winning the Heisman trophy. Frank was currently working at Tribal Mfg. in Chesnee. He has a passion for gardening and cooking. Frank was a member of Holy Temple #2 in Forest City.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jeffery McDowell; a sister, Gladys McDowell; son-in-law, Gerand Evans.Surviving is his wife of 13 years, Sarah Dawkins McDowell; three sons, Travis Dodd, Frank E. McDowell, Jr., Christopher McDowell; six daughters, Natasha McDowell, Frances McDowell, Kimberly McDowell, Sarah McDowell, Sharon McDowell and Simaya Murray; four brothers, Johnny McDowell, Rodney McDowell, Mark McDowell and Thomas McDowell; six sisters, Terri Beason, Sharon Holmes, Yvonne Currins, Jennifer Brannon, Severie Broadas and Tiffany McDowell; his fiancé, Barbara Murray. Also surviving are twenty-three grandchildren.The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday evening, September 7, 2022 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel.A graveside service will at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 8, 2022 in Friendly Hill Cemetery in Chesnee with Reverend John Murray officiating.
