Tryon, NC—Evelyn LaHoya Arrowood, 74, of Tryon, died December 5, 2022 at the Upstate Community Hospice House in Landrum, SC following a brief illness.She was of the Baptist faith, last attending State Line Baptist Church in Columbus, NC. In early adult life she worked as a cook and then a CNA in nursing facilities. However, her greatest joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and sharing her love for cooking, fishing, jewelry making, crafts, and gardening with them. She was born in Tryon, NC and was the daughter of the late Vance and Virginia Greene. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Sandra Conrad; brothers, Ronnie Greene, Kenny Greene, and Steve Greene; granddaughter, Kira Nicole Gordon, and grandson, Trevor Arrowood.She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Hardy Arrowood; daughter, LaHoya Ivey (Danny) of Chesnee, SC; sons, Hardy Arrowood Jr. (Salina) of Central, SC, Kevin Arrowood (Shelley) of Inman, SC, and Jeff Arrowood (Kerry) of Columbus, NC; fifteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one on the way; brothers, Gary Greene of Columbia, SC and Danny Greene of Mill Spring, NC.The family would like to thank all the staff of Country Time Inn Assisted Living in Kings Mountain, NC and the staff of the Upstate Community Hospice House in Landrum, SC for the care provided during her illness.A Celebration of life for the family will be held at a later date.In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be mailed to Upstate Community Hospice House, 260 Fairwinds Road, Landrum, SC 29356 or a donation of pajamas or gowns to your local hospice facility.
