It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Evalyn Gail Stewart, who passed away on May 16, 2026 at the age of 84 at her home in Tryon, North Carolina.

Eve was born on February 27, 1942 in Hendersonville, North Carolina to Haskell and Helen Heaton. She grew up in Henderson County and later made her home in Polk County.

She was a devoted wife and mother who was known for her kindness, love and compassion. She brought joy to those around her through her love of gardening and caring for her cats.

Eve worked as a dispatcher for many years and was respected by colleagues and friends alike. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, and especially cherished time spent with her family and cats.

She is lovingly remembered by her sons, Jeff Perrenoud of Tryon, North Carolina and Randy and Catherine Perrenoud of Inman, South Carolina. two grandchildren, Carlson, Hattie Perrenoud. She was predeceased by her parents, Haskell Heaton and Helen V. Holtzclaw, husband, Brooks Stewart, sisters, Miriam King and Becky Ball.

A celebration of life will be held at a later time to be determined and will be posted soon.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to Foothills Humane Society or plant a tree in her memory.

Though she is gone from our sight, her love, wisdom and memory will remain in our hearts forever.
