Obituary

Eula Marie Smalley, 80, of Rutherfordton, NC passed away Friday, March 14, 2014 in Oakland Living Center, Rutherfordton. Born June 16, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Joe and Bertha Robbins Webb. Eula was the widow of Roy Smalley who passed away in 2012. A member of Sandy Springs First Baptist Church, she was a homemaker who enjoyed sewing and cooking. Surviving are: a son, James Smalley of Rutherfordton, NC; two sisters, Flora Clement of Boiling Springs, SC and Betty Jo Cooley (Marshall) of Boiling Springs, SC. Also surviving are a special aunt, Ruby Hawkins of Inman, SC; special sister-in-law, Pauline McCarn of Boiling Springs, SC; as well as a special great-niece, Jaycie Slattery and special great-nephew, Jeffery Slattery both of Chesnee, SC. She was preceded in death by a brother, Bob Webb, and a sister, Doris Smalley. Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 pm Monday, March 17, 2014 in the Sandy Springs First Baptist Church with Pastor Phil Bailey officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 3:45 pm Monday, March 17, 2014 just prior to the service in Sandy Springs First Baptist Church. Burial will follow the services in the Melvin Hill Church of the Brethren, Green Creek, NC. A special thanks is extended to Arlene Smith and the staff at Oakland Living Center in Rutherfordton, NC. The family will be at the home of a niece, Jackie Cooley-Finger, 105 Anderson Road, Chesnee, SC. An online guest register is available at www.mcfarlandfuneralchapel.com
