Tryon, N.C. - Ethel Bender Becker, 95, of 70 Oak Street, Tryon, NC died Sunday, February 14, 2010 in White Oak Manor Nursing Center, Tryon, NC. Born in Homestead, PA, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Josephine Shuster Bender and was the widow of G. Russell Becker who died in 1975. Mrs. Becker moved to Polk County in 2000 coming from Mt. Lebanon, PA. She was a retired high school math teacher and was a member of the Southminister Presbyterian Church, Mt. Lebanon, PA. Surviving are: two daughters, Carol Sue Wallace of Tryon, NC and Marion B. Gaither of Buckhannon, WV. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Private memorial services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, 130 Forest Glen Drive, Columbus, NC 28722
