Esther Jane Jillson, 83, of Saluda, passed away, Saturday morning, September 18, 2021, at Pardee Hospital.Born February 10, 1938, in Nova Scotia to the late David Copland and Agnes Beech Copland and beloved wife of the late Floyd Peter Jillson who passed away in 2018. She and her husband were married May 12, 1956, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.Esther worked at the Algonac State Bank in Algonac, MI for over 20 years before moving to North Carolina 35 years ago. She retired from HomeTrust Bank in 2011 after 25 years and JC Penny in Hendersonville in 2017 after 28 years. She was an avid golfer and a member of the Flat Rock Lady Swingers Golf League. Esther enjoyed traveling, cruises, visiting her sisters in Canada and tending to her flowers. She attended Saluda United Methodist Church.In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Jillson, a sister, Margaret and a brother, Peter.Surviving are two daughters, Brenda Martin (Tim) and Catherine Phillips; grandmother to Eric, Stacy, Tyler, Chris, and Jamie; GiGi to Autumn, Lucas, and Logan; daughter-in-law, Kathy Jillson; three sisters, Gerry, Kathy, Debbie of Ontario. Esther will be missed by her nieces, nephews, and many friends.A celebration of life will be held October 2, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Saluda United Methodist Church with Reverend Robert Parsons officiating, followed by a luncheon.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Saluda United Methodist Church.
