Obituary

Columbus, NC- Ernest Anthony Spadaccini, 90, of Columbus, NC died Thursday, May 1, 2008 at his home. Born in New Canaan, CT, he was the son of the late Antonio and Carmela Pantalone Spadacinni. He was predeceased by his sisters Mary Christopher, Ann Novokus, Virginia DelVicario, Julie Spadaccini, and two brothers, John and Fred Spadaccini; one sister surviving, Antonette Sirico and her husband Thomas to whom Ernest loved like a brother. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, and God children. Ernest was the widower of his beloved wife Lenore Madeline Spadaccini who died in 2003. He has a surviving step-son Lawrence P. Demott of Willimantic, CT and of course, all of his adored friends near and far. Ernest served in the U.S. Army during World War II from December 1941 to 1945. While in service, he was a ward master. He received a M.M. Risle Badge, good conduct medal and and American Desence Service medal. He served and was stationed in Europe and Mid-Eastern Africa; theater ribbon. He was a member of Tryon United Methodist Church and volunteered for St. Luke's Hospital, Habitat for Humanity and was selected to the "Second Wind Hall of Fame". To those friends and family members who knew "Ernie" was truly blessed to have him in their lives. He was one of the most kind, loving, devoted gentlemen that one could encounter. He will be truly missed and hold a special place in all of our hearts. Memorial services will be held at a later date.
