Columbus, NC- Erick R. Grinde ,67, of Columbus, NC died June 9, 2015 after a long battle fighting brain cancer. Erick was raised in western Massachusetts and earned a Masters of Business Administration from the State University of New York at Albany. Erick met his future wife of 44 years, Prudence Jane Dickie, when they were both attending different colleges in upstate New York.After marrying, Erick began a long and successful career in commercial mortgages and real estate. Erick retired as a Senior Vice President of an insurance company based in Vermont. His responsibilities included the management of the firm's commercial mortgage and real estate investments. Erick is survived by his wife, Prudence "Jane" Grinde of Columbus, NC and two sons, Brian Grinde of Charlotte, NC and Roger Grinde of Austin, TX, two grandchildren John Cooper Grinde and Carter B. Grinde of Charlotte, NC. He is predeceased by his parents, Sverre and Louise Grinde and sister, Trudy Lorance. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Erick's memory to The Congregational Church UCC, P O Box 1367 Tryon, NC 28782.
