Obituary

MILL SPRING, NC - Emil Szendrodi, 71, of Mill Spring, passed away suddenly at home on Wednesday, August 27, 2008. He was born in Hungary in 1937 and immigrated to the United States in 1957. He resided in Yonkers, New York, and served in the U.S. Army from 1959-1961 and spent time in Korea. He married Ida Nemeth in 1969 in Hungary and relocated shortly thereafter to Fishkill in 1970 where he raised his family and lived for 23 years. He retired from IBM in 1993 after 10 years of service. Subsequent to that, he spent many years working for the Western Publishing Company in Poughkeepsie and worked all over the lower Hudson Valley as an electrician. He resided in North Carolina after retiring. While there, he pursued his passion for jazz music by building custom guitars. He also enjoyed doing home renovations and construction projects and enjoyed helping his family with their "house projects." The last memories of "Grandpa Emil" will include time spent with his grandchildren and family in Beacon, NY during July of 2008. He is survived by his wife, Ida of Mill Spring, NC, daughters, Shana of Beacon, and her husband Michael J. McCullough, III, Anita of Wappingers Falls, his son, Attila, of Glenham, grandchildren, Samantha McCullough, Michael McCullough, IV of Beacon, NY and Alaina Mills.
