Edith L. Ritchey, 94, of Columbus went home to be with the Lord, Sunday morning, December 9, 2018.A native of Polk County, she was the daughter of the late Jabe and Pearl Laughter and wife of the late Compton Ritchey who passed away in 2001. For 35 years, she operated Jim's Gifts in Lake Lure. During her life, she enjoyed hiking and camping. Mrs. Ritchey was a charter member of Midway Baptist Church, where she gave her heart and soul to the work of the Lord.Surviving is one son, Keith Ritchey (Margaret) of Columbus; one daughter, Tammie Nelon (Eric) of Columbus.The family will receive friends prior to the service Saturday, December 15, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. in Midway Baptist Church.A funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 15, 2018 in Midway Baptist Church with Rev. Peter McDonald officiating.Burial will follow in the church cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Midway Baptist Church, 2101 Hwy. 108 East, Columbus, NC 28722.
