Landrum, SC - Earl Eugene "Gene" Smith, 70, of Butter Street, Landrum, SC, died Thursday June 23, 2011 in Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills, Landrum, SC.Born in Greenville County, SC, he was the son of the late Thomas Earl and Dorothy Louise Greene Smith. He was a self-employed Rock Mason. Gene was a long time member of the Landrum Masonic Lodge #278 A.F.M and was a member of the Polk County Rescue Squad for approximately 25 years. He was of the Baptist Faith.Surviving is his wife, Glenda McInnis Smith of the home; two daughters, Bonnie Smith of the home and Penny Evans (Ronnie) of Campobello, SC; two brothers, Leon Smith of Landrum, SC and Guynelle Smith (Pat) of Spartanburg, SC. Also surviving are 2 grandchildren, Sierra Storey and Barrett Evans.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 24, 2011 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, NC with Rev. Dean Elliott and Rev.
