Saluda, NC - Dwight Jay Hahn, 60, of Roxie Drive, Saluda, NC died Thursday, September 2, 2010 at his home after a brief illness.Born in Indianapolis, IN, he was the son of the late Jack and Frances Artrip Hahn. He was a Veteran of the U. S. Army having served in the Medical Corp during Vietnam. He retired as a captain from the Dayton, OH Fire Department serving from 1978 to 2003. Upon retirement Jay relocated to Saluda, NC where he was very active in the Saluda Center. He was devoted to helping others through his numerous community and personal activities.Jay is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Debbie DeWeese Hahn; two daughters, Krista Meekins (Sean) of Florence, SC and Ericka Hahn of Dayton, OH; a grandson, Tanner Jay Meekins and a granddaughter, Adalyn Jay Kennedy due September 18, 2010; a brother, Greg Hahn (Susie) of Indianapolis, IN; three sisters, Carin Baxley (Barry) of Round Hill, VA; Kim Wilkinson and Holly Turner both of Scottsdale, AZ.Memorial services will be held 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 8, 2010 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, NC with Rev. Rob Parsons officiating.The family will receive friends just prior to the service on Wednesday beginning at 1:30 p.m. until 3:00 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel.Memorials may be made to the Saluda Senior Center, 64 Greenville Street, Saluda, NC 28773.
