Saluda, NC - Dwane Dewitt Johnson, 85, of Saluda, NC passed away Saturday, December 28, 2013 in his home. Born on October 8, 1928 in Saluda, NC he was the son of the late Corum and Sara Johnson. A veteran of World War II, he retired from the U.S. Navy as a Chief Petty Officer of the U.S.S. Coral Sea after 22 years of service.Survivors include one son, Stanley M. Johnson of Saluda, NC; one daughter, Judy A. Johnson of Knights Ferry, CA; and four grandchildren, Jamie, Jessica, Kassidy and Montana.Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 2, 2013 at Friendship Baptist Church, Saluda, NC with Rev. Henry Vegter officiating.
