—Mr. Douglas Gene McDowell was born July 2, 1958.  He entered eternal rest on August 29, 2020.He was a native of Spartanburg County, South Carolina and the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Boyce and Margaret McDowell.Left to cherish his loving memories is his special loving companion, Ms. Debra Hamberry of the home; a daughter, Christine Nicole McDowell of Spartanburg, SC; five sons, Shaun Edwards of Wellford, SC, Chris Snoddy of Hendersonville, NC, Douglas (Alexis) McDowell Jr. of Boiling Springs, SC, Chase King of Spartanburg, SC, Cody (Samone) McDowell of Hendersonville, NC; one sister, Tecora (Converse) Goode of Landrum, SC; four brothers, Harrison (Paulette) McDowell of Spartanburg, SC, Michael (Edna) McDowell of Landrum, SC, Boyce (Tena) McDowell Jr. of Landrum, SC and David (Lorie) Webster of Apollo Beach, FL.  Also surviving is an aunt, Gladys Jackson of Spartanburg, SC; two Uncles, Johnny McDowell of Chesnee, SC and David (Catherine) Simpson of Landrum, SC; twelve grandchildren, his beloved dog Rose and a host of nieces, nephews, cherished friends and relatives.The family would like to express our sincere thanks to all of our many friends and loved ones for the sympathy shown during these hours of sadness.  As we greatly express our gratitude, may God continue to bless you for your acts of kindness and support.A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 5, 2020 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel in Tryon, North Carolina.The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 p.m. to 12:45 p.m.
