Tryon, NC-- Dorothy Wilkie McCall, 90, of Melrose Circle, Tryon, NC, died Monday, June 29, 2009 at home. She was the daughter of the late Joseph Aden and Nannie Conley Wilkie and was born July 24, 1918 in Forest City, NC where she lived until the family moved to Charlotte for a number of years. They moved back to Forest City when she was in 7th grade and attended Forest City Schools with her classmate, Bill McCall, Sr., the love of her life. She graduated from Queens College and taught school in Ellenboro, NC until she married Dr. C.W. McCall, Sr. in 1941 and moved to Tryon. While at Queens she was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority as were her other three sisters. She was an active member of the Tryon United Methodist Church, Visiting Nurse Board, St. Luke's Hospital Auxillary, Red Cross Blood Bank, Bridge Club, PTA and Green Blades Garden Club. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and United Daughters of the Confederacy. Surviving are her sons, Dr. Bill McCall, Jr. and wife Becky of Tryon, Dr. Mark McCall and wife Carol of Tryon. Grandchildren, Kelly McCall of Burnsville, NC, Robin McCall of Raleigh,NC, Kevin McCall of Landrum, SC, Wendy McCall of Tryon and New Orleans, LA., great granddaughters, Katelin, Amelia and Alaina McCall of Landrum, SC. Dorothy was one of eleven children and is survived by one brother, H.G. (Bud) Wilkie of Forest City, NC. Her very special caregivers, Angie Tipton, Joyce Pierce, Kendall Page and Lorraine Wilson. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 3, 2009 at Tryon United Methodist Church in Tryon, NC with Dr. Neil Haynes officiating.
