TRYON, NC - Dorothy Hovend Erickson, 95, of Tryon, NC left us peacefully, March 31, 2009 in St. Luke's Hospital in Columbus, NC. Born in Mound, MN, she was the daughter of the late Jule and Jenny Frogner Hovend and widow of Russell F. Erickson who died in 1988. Dottie's wit and positive attitude endeared her to those who knew her. Mrs. Erickson was an artist, gardener and bridge player. Her family is grateful for her companions who showed loving care over the last several years. Surviving are three daughters, Virginia E. Bivona and husband Bill of Tryon, NC, Kristin Carter and her husband Kurt of Alameda, CA and Holly Erickson of Midlothian, VA. She was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Hovend.
