Donald Owen Taylor, 90, of Tryon, passed away, Thursday evening, September 16, 2021, at White Oak Manor of Tryon.Born in Atlanta, GA, he was the son of the late Owen E. Taylor and Alice Grace Shattler Taylor and loving husband of the late Carol L. Taylor who passed away in 2016. Mr. Taylor was a graduate of Villanova University with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Accounting. He went on to work for Philco as comptroller and later a broker and vice president of Watson Realty. He and his wife Carol moved to Tryon in 2014 coming from Jacksonville, FL to be closer to family. They were both devoted members of the Salvation Army in Hendersonville.In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Gary O. Taylor and a grandson, Jeffrey D. Glass, Jr.Surviving is one son, Roger Taylor (Alex) of Mill Spring; one daughter, Ellen Glass (Jeff) of Mill Spring; one daughter-in-law, Patti Taylor of Florida. Also surviving are six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 23, 2021, in Polk Memorial Gardens with Salvation Army Captains Sherrie and Phillip Stokes officiating.Memorials may be made to Salvation Army, 239 3rd Avenue East, Hendersonville, North Carolina 28792.
