Columbus, NC - Dolon Thompson Watson, 89, of 424 Houston Road, Columbus, NC died Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness.Born in Rutherford County, NC she was the daughter of the late Johnny Lyman and Odessa Jones Thompson. Mrs. Watson retired from the Polk County School system and was a lifetime member of Girl Scouts of America. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Simpsonville, SC.Surviving are one son James and wife Libby of Rutherfordton, NC, two daughters, Norma Hill and husband Jay of Columbus, NC and Alexandria Russel and husband Jay of Green Creek, NC. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Rev. Ryan Mills and wife Mary of Guthrie, OK, Rev. Jeremy Mills and wife Sarah of Fort Wayne, IN, Natalie Mills Conner and husband Michael of Columbus, NC, and Chad and Corey Watson of Rutherfordton, NC; two great grandchildren Hannah Mills of Guthrie, OK and Aliya Conner of Columbus, NC. Mrs. Watson also leaves behind one sister, Ruth T. Brown, two brothers Robert and Larry all of Rutherfordton, NC and two sister-in-laws, Ernestine Thompson of Marion, NC and Virginia Thompson of Hendersonville, NC and one brother-in-law Ralph Randall of Mocksville, NC.She was preceded in death by her husband Holland Roscoe Watson and infant son; two brothers Dana Thompson of Rutherfordton and Hoyt Thompson of Hendersonville; a sister Lucille Thompson Randall of Mocksville, NC. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, May 3, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. in the McFarland Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jeffrey Van Osdol officiating.Interment will be immediately following at Thompson Family Cemetery, Thompson Road, Rutherfordton, NC.
