Dennis Taylor McClure, 82, of McClure Hill, Landrum, passed away, Tuesday morning, September 13, 2022 at Upstate Community Hospice House.Born on McClure Hill, he was the son of the late John Taylor McClure and Dora Phillips McClure. Dennis was a Vietnam veteran having served in the U.S. Army. After the war, he went onto to work in the textile industry for many years. Most recently, he retired from Tryon Estates after 20 years of service. When not working, Dennis loved playing softball and played until he was 80 years old. He was of the Baptist faith.Surviving is his wife of 62 years, Miriam Loftis McClure; one daughter, Sherri Hause (Randy) of Lyman; one niece, Bernie (Ron) Walters of Greensboro; one step-son, James McGinnis of Columbus.Private services will be held.Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, Post Office Box 336, Forest City, North Carolina 28043 or to Foothills Humane Society, Post Office Box 985, Columbus, North Carolina 28722.
