TRYON, NC -- David Russell Tryon, 85 of Tryon, NC passed away after a brief illness on December 25, 2007.He was born on May 11, 1922 in Montclair, NJ. He graduated from Montclair High School in 1940. David spent most of his working years in Bloomfield, NJ and Highland Lakes, NJ. He retired to Tryon, NC in 2000. David was an avid lover of the outdoors and expressed his love through his photography and gardening. He enjoyed volunteering at Habitat for Humanity in Landrum, SC.He will be greatly missed by his nieces; Joanne Pierson of Clearlake, WI, Julie Jones of New Berlin, WI, and Jean McDermott (Gerald) of Salem, VA, and nephew, Jay Steinke (Lisa) of Duluth, MN and many great nieces and nephews. His special friend and companion, Pat Reed of Tryon, NC. His wonderful cats, August and April. Also many friends.A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 4, 2008 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel in Tryon, NC with Rev. Dr. Gerald McDermott officiating.Burial will be in Montclair, NJ at a later date.Memorials may be made to Habitat for Humanity, 132 N. Trade Street, Landrum, SC 29356.
